Diversified technology company, Honeywell International Inc. (HON - Free Report) recently inked a 15-year agreement with Dubai-based airline firm Emirates to offer maintenance and aftermarket components for its fleet. The agreement with the world’s largest operator of Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 aircraft aims to cut airline operating costs by reducing grounded aircraft time through round-the-clock support services. In 2016, I started covering orders and deliveries for Boeing (NYSE:BA) and Airbus (OTCPK:EADSF) with monthly reports, and while this does not reflect current financial performance, I will continue this coverage as it gives somewhat of an idea of current performance as well as ability for the respective manufacturers to grow order books and possibly earnings in the future on healthy order books. Next to that, the order inflow is an almost direct reflection of the market environment on the commercial aircraft market. (53-0)

Japan Airlines (JAL) intends to order more widebody aircraft to meet its growth objectives, although a decision about which type could be some way off. The carrier is discussing its widebody needs but has not yet reached any internal agreement, said Hideki Oshima, JAL’s executive officer for international relations and alliances. An order probably would not be placed until sometime in 2018 or 2019, Oshima told Aviation Daily recently.
