China Relaxes Visa Requirements For Hainan

MTU-China Southern JV Plans 50% MRO Capacity Increase

MTU Maintenance Zhuhai, responding to surging demand for narrowbody engine maintenance, is making room for more overhaul work that will add some shop capacity near-term and increase it by 50% by 2021. The shop, opened in 2001 as a joint venture between MTU Aero Engines and China Southern Airlines, focuses on International Aero Engines V2500-A5s and CFM CFM56-3s through -7s. An expansion in 2012 took annual shop-visit capacity from 200 to 300; the facility inducted 280 engines in 2017.
