Welcome to the March 2017 cobalt miner news. The focus will be on the cobalt miners that are in, or reasonably near, production, as well as featuring a few promising juniors each month. For a background on the cobalt miners, investors can read my earlier articles:
Cobalt miner news - Glencore CEO said "in 2018, our overall cobalt production goes into the 50,000 tonnes to 60,000 tonnes range.".
Cobalt market news - Berry: "the demand story around cobalt is real. It appears that a new long-term average price for the material will settle in the $20/lb range.".
A critical point to understand when investing in cobalt companies is the impact of associated metals such as copper and nickel (or molybdenum) prices have on the cobalt producer.
Many experts see cobalt as the next critical element set to boom. The cobalt price has risen about 50% so far this year.
Following on from a trading halt, Dragon Energy has been given a voluntary suspension, which it expects to outline details pre-market on Monday 19th December 2016.
Dragon Energy (ASX:DLE) has completed the 100% acquisition of Westview Resources Pty Ltd, which owns the Tabac cobalt-gold project located in the Wiluna region of Western Australia.
Yesterday the company's shares opened at $0.017, and hit $0.023 intra-day, which is a 35% swing.
Funds raised will be applied towards pre-drilling activities and the scheduled maiden drilling program at the company’s flagship Tabac Cobalt-Gold Project in Western Australia.
